The joy of walking in France lies in discovering each region’s unique character and perhaps nowhere is this more evident than in the Alsace. Born German and adopted by France, the rolling hills of Alsace evoke an earthy playfulness. Villages of heavily timbered homes, curiously decorated in bright Mediterranean colors, spring forth as if from a fairy tale. The brasserie was invented here and salmon and sauerkraut share the same plate to surprisingly delicious effect. Here in the lush foothills of the Vosges Mountains, we will wander through forests, vineyards and 1500 years of history to discover one of Europe’s more quirky corners.
