Extended Slideshow of Bavaria and Austria
Seven days, Six nights
Munich, Lake Starnberg, Seefeld
July 31
– August 6, 2012
Cost: $4,450 (single supplement $675)
The distance from Munich in Bavaria to Seefeld in the Austrian Alps is only about 45 miles but the two places seem worlds apart and the variety of landscapes that lie between them is a walker’s paradise (and a diner’s paradise too, actually.) Munich is one of Europe’s most cosmopolitan cities with extraordinary museums, sophisticated shops and cutting edge cuisine. Yet, tradition holds strong in the ornate historic center and ever-popular beer gardens. And, Munich boasts enough green space to offer peaceful rural walks in the very heart of the city.
The surrounding countryside is painfully beautiful and the villages remain pristine. Farms among rolling hills of dense green meadow thrive on an abundance of clear Alpine runoff. A stark contrast is provided as we continue on to the shores of Lake Starnberg and the tranquil Leutasch Valley surrounded by the Austrian Alps. Each day of this itinerary has its own unique character and mood, a new world to explore every morning.
