Information For Arriving At Your Tour Departure Point
Our tour begins at the lakeside Hotel Lido-Seegarten in Lugano, Switzerland. Lugano lies on the main railway line between Zurich and Milan. It is a spectacular 3.5 hour rail journey from Zurich to Lugano and trains depart approx. every two hours. From Milan, it is a 2.5 hour journey to Lugano and trains depart approx. every 3 hours. From the main train station in Lugano, it is a 10 minute taxi ride to the Hotel Lido-Seegarten.
Bus service from Milan Malpensa: Buses leave from Milan Malpensa to Lugano every two hours. The journey takes about 1 hr. and costs approx. $25.
Official check-in time at the hotel is 2:00 PM, though our rooms are usually available earlier. If you arrive early, the lovely town and wonderful shops of Lugano await. The front desk will be happy to assist you in finding your way. At 6:30 PM , your tour group will meet for a welcome refreshment on the terrace outside overlooking the lake. Here you will be introduced to your guides and hear more about your trip.
Important Note: If you are arriving at Malpensa Airport in Milan and wish to transfer to Milan’s central railway station, you have three options. 1. Taxi (cost approx: $120). 2. Buses leave every half hour to Milan Central station (cost approx: $15 per person). 3. Train service from the airport to Milan North station (cost approx: $8 per person). This train does not stop at Milan Central station where all trains to other cities depart from. You must switch to a subway for three stops to make the connection to Milan Central.
